Hikes & Trails

There are over thousands of recommended hikes and trails. They say that Sierra Nevada is really a paradise for hikers. Easy and short to long and advanced.  Many hikes and trails are to be found on an application called Wikiloc. It is a very useful tool to explorer hikes in Granada or in this Valley.
Please allow us to introduce you to some of our favorite’s walks.

Barranco de Luna

Barranco de Luna is very close to Elysium. It is consider one of the hidden gem in the Valley.  You would never know it exists if it was not set as your destination. The incredible walk through running rivers that can rise to your knees in additon to the climing of huge bolders that have  naturally been place through time is an advaneture. Towards the end of the hike you will find oceanic fosils dating back to prehistoric times when the area was under the ocean.

Rio Castril Moclin

Enjoy one of the most impressive geographical features in Granada, the Cerrada of Castril River.

The Cerrada del Río Castril is a stunning canyon that has been shaped by erosion with the passage of time. There is a series of walkways cut into the rock wallsthat enable the visitor to enjoy a hike high above the river waters, and cross overa suspension bridgeto reach a gallery excavated in the rock that leads to a beautiful natural balcony with beautiful views out over the countryside.

Los Cahorros Amokachi

Ruta de los Cahorros is a family friendly Sierra Nevada trail, located outside the village of Monachil, close to Granada. This was our very first hike when we moved to Spain. The hike is exciting and memorable due to swinging bridges inside the Monachil canyon. This is a circular walk and only 40 min drive away from Melegis with beautiful views.

Vereda de la Estrella

The Vereda de la Estrella route is a mandatory itinerary for all nature and hiking lovers. With a privileged environment, walking its trails is a fantastic way to enjoy this natural space beyond the typical ski trip in Sierra Nevada. That is why this route is one of the favourites when it comes to southern Spain. If you love the outdoors but would like to enjoy them without having the stress of difficult hikes this rout is especially for you!
